Mat. And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. Mar. And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye That the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither. 31 Luke And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him. Mat. All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy king cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the fole of an ass. And certain of them that stood there, said unto them, What do ye loosing the colt? And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded; and they let them go. 32 Luke And they that were sent, went their way, and found leven as he had said unto them. 33 34 7 8 And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt? And they said, The Lord hath need of him. Mar. And they brought the colt to Jesus, and cast Their garments on him; and he sat upon him. 35 Luke And they brought him to Jesus; and they east Their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon. These things understood not his disciples at the first; but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him. The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of nis grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record. For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle. Now in the morning, (viz. of the day the transactions of which the Evangelist had been relating; not the morn ing of the following day as is commonly supposed), as he returned into the city, he hungered, (επεινασι, be bad become hungry). And when he saw a fig-tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig-tree withered away. Mar. And in the morning (viz. next morning, the morning after that on which the fig-tree was cursed, and the tem ple purged, as is evident from the preceding verse in Mark) as they passed by, they saw the fig-tree dried up from the roots. And Peter calling to remembrance, saith unto him, Master, behold the fig-tree which thou cursedst, is withered away. Mat. And when the disciples saw it, (viz. next day) they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig-tree withered away? Mat. Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, Ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig-tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast Mar. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, (the mount of Olives on which they were walking) Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea, And shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass, He shall have whatsoever he saith. Mat. And all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, Believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mar. And when ye stand, praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any; that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. Sect. Sect. 113. And they come again to Jerusalem : And as he was walking in the temple, There come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders. Mat. And when he was come into the temple, The chief priests, and the elders of the people came unto him As he was teaching Mat. And said, By what authority doest thou these things? And who gave thee this authority? Mar. And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? And who gave thee this authority to do these things? Luke And spake unto him, saying, Tell us by what authority doest thou these things? Or who is he that gave thee this authority? Luke And ne answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing, Mar. And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will also ask of you one question, And answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. Mat. And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, Which if ye tell me, I in likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things? Mat.
