Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto Sect. 125. Jesus foretels bis own sufferings the seventis He is anointed the Judas bargains with 21 37 Luke And in the day time he was teaching in the temple, and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives. And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple to hear him. 38 Mar. After two days was the feast of the passover, 22 1 Luke A Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, Which is called the passover. Mat. And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples, Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified. Mat. Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas. And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him. Mar. But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, And John xii. 50. p. 260. Mar. And there were some that had indignation within themselves, And said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? Mar. For it might have been sold for more than Three hundred pence, and have been given to Mat. For this ointment might have been sold for Mar. And they murmured against her. Mar. And Jesus said, Let her alone, why trouble ye her? She hath wrought a good work on me. Mat. When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? For she hath wrought a good work on me. Mat. For ye have the poor always with you, but me ye have not always. Mar. For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good; but me ye have not always. Mar. She hath done what she could, Mar. She is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying. Mat. For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial. Mat. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, There shall also this, that this woman hath done, Mar. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel for a memorial of her. Mat. Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went Junto the chief priests, And said unto them, What will ye give me, and Mar. And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him. Sect. 126. Peter and John sent to prepare the passover. 22 7 Luke Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed. And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go, and prepare us the passover, that 15. 16 8 we may eat. 9 Luke And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare? Mar. And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare, that thou mayest eat the passover? Mat. Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread, the disciples came to Jesus saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover? 10 Luke And he said unto themy Behold, when ye are enter led into the city, There shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; Follow him into the house where he end Mar. And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith And there shall meet you a man bearing a pit cher of water; Follow him, Mat. And he said, Go into the city To such a man, Mat. And say unto him, Mar. And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the good man of the house, 11 Luke And ye shall say unto the good man of the house, Where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? Mar. And he will shew you a large upper room us. 12 Luke And he shall shew you a large upper room 13 Luke And they went and found as he had said unto them, And they made ready the passover. Sect 13 1 John Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come, that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end. 3 4 Luke And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer. For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves. For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. 2 John And supper being ended, (the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him), Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God, He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments, and took a towel, and girded himself. After that he poureth water, &c. to verse 12. 5 11 12 John So after he had washed their feet, and had ta 20 ken his garments, and was set down again, he him. 13 21 John When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in 22 24 25 26 Mat. And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. Mar. And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me, shall betray me. 22 John Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake. Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples whom Jesus loved. Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake. He then, lying on Jesus' breast, saith unto him, Lord, who is it? Jesus answered, He it is to whom I shall give a sop when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. And after the sop, Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, doa quickly. 27 29 13 28 John quickly. Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him., For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast: or that he should give something to the poor. Mat. And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them To say unto him, Lord, is it I? Mar. And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I? Mar. And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, That dippeth with me in the dish. Mat. And he answered and said, He That dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me. Mat. The Son of man goeth as it is written of him; But woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed: Mar. The Son of man indeed goeth as it is written But woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed: of him; Mar. Good were it for that man if he had neve? been born, 25 26 22 22 19 11 23 been born. Mat. It had been good for that man if he had not Mat. Then Judas which betrayed him answered and baid, Master, Is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said. Sect. 129. Jesus institutes the sacrament of bu supper, to keep up the remembrance of his sufferings, which he thus predicted the ninth time. §127. Mat. And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, And blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, And said, 'Take, eat; this is my body. Mar.
